Bart Vandenberghe obtained his Master degree in Dentistry at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 2005. He continued his oral imaging training with a Master in Medical Imaging (2007) and a PhD in Medical Sciences (2010) researching 2D and 3D imaging techniques for periodontal diagnosis. For this training, he spent three years in the United States of America as research scholar at Temple University in Philadelphia (2005-2006) and at Tufts University in Boston (2007). Shortly after, he was recruited by the University of Maryland, where he spent more than a year (2007-2008) in the department of Diagnostic Sciences and Pathology as Visiting Assistant Professor.

Bart Vandenberghe was finalist for the Research Award of the International Dentomaxillofacial Radiology Association in 2007 (Beijing, China) and won the second price in 2011 (Hiroshima, Japan). He is author and co-author of numerous international publications as well as reviewer for many international journals and editorial board member of the Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Research. Since 2012 he is member of the central council of the European Academy of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology as chair of the Scientific Committee.

Besides his academic endeavors, he organized a first dental mission for the Tierra Bomba Organization in 2007, where he provided dental care and dental preventive education at the local school on the island of Tierra Bomba, Colombia.

Upon his return to Belgium, he finalized a research grant in 3D Cone Beam imaging and 3D follow-up at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, division of prosthetic dentistry, where he was teaching and integrating novel techniques in the field of digital dentistry (2010-2015). Starting 2011, Bart also founded Advimago, Center for Advanced Oral imaging, in Brussels and its training center for continuing education, Advimago Training Center, where he is teaching Digital Dentistry, advanced CAD/CAM courses and provides elaborate CBCT certification programmes. The state-of-the-art facilities of the clinic are also the research grounds for scientific investigations on 3D image analysis and follow-up and are currently being expanded for increased international education.
